Why I’d rather sell a PT package worth $1000 vs. $3000

What I’m talking about is why I’d rather have a One on one client train with me once per week rather than 4 times.

The main reason is they disappear every school holidays to Europe or skiing. You know they type, you are incredibly excited to convert a client into 4 sessions per week all you can see are the dollar signs and you need the cash, Then you get another one, you think WOW now I have 2, 3 or even 4 clients doing 4 sessions per week! 4 x 4 =16 sessions yippee! I’m going to be rolling in it.

Then what happens…
They go away (often they go away in the school holidays). Which leaves you where? Hanging out by yourself, without clients for several weeks and no money income or any kind and you weren’t prepared for this. What are you left to do? get another job? Get more clients? … but then you have the dilemma that in several weeks Jenny is back from holidays and she will want her 4 time slots back.
Does this sound familiar? I’ve been there too.

It’s because of this I’ve decided I’d prefer to attract a different type of client. The type who only uses me for bouts of 12 weeks doing 1-2 session/wk at a time. Purely so they can stay accountable, learn the intensity to train to get results and learn the correct technique so they stay injury free. These are the people that come and train by themselves, they come and do the programs you’ve written for them (I hope you are writing programs for your clients? why? see here).

As with everything though there are exceptions to the rules.

I also enjoy the odd rehab client as these guys really get me thinking.

At the end of the day, I believe it comes down to the client getting results, and if they aren’t willing to put in any work themselves, what’s going to happen when you go on holidays, you or they move, they run out of money (which does happen). So be aware that massive packages/sessions per week are not always the way to go if you want to increase your revenue. Click here for more ideas on marketing for increasing revenue.
